Brooksville Regional Hospital's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program offers an individualized utpatient program focused on improving the quality of life for people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Our medically supervised program offers monitored exercise, education training and emotional support for adults with emphysema, asthma, chronic bronchitis, bonchiectasis and other lung disorders.  

Program Objectives
The medical professionals at Brooksville Regional are committed to assisting the individual in leading a more productive, independent and healthy lifestyle.


Upon receiving a physician referral, you will be scheduled to meet with our Respiratory Therapist or Registered Nurse for an interview and assessment. The program will be thoroughly explained and your individual goal plan will be compiled. Our team of professionals will design a program to meet your specific needs and goals. Sessions will be scheduled at this time. Typically the sessions are three times a week for 10 weeks. Each session lasts approximately an hour.  

Program Cost
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program at Brooksville Regional Hospital is covered by most health insurance plans, including Medicare. If a private insurance company covers you, you should verify coverage with your carrier.    

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services  
Monitored Exercise Exercise programs are developed to meet the participant’s needs and abilities. Sessions may include the use of treadmill, stationary bicycle, Unstop and other exercise equipment. 
     
Education
Our team of professionals that are with you during the exercise component presents educational classes. Some of the topics covered are: respiratory therapy, breathing techniques to reduce shortness of breath, nutrition, and stress management. These classes will either be immediately before or after your exercise hour and will last approximately 30 minutes.  

Bronchial Hygiene
Participants will learn how to effectively cough and clear their secretions.  

Program Evaluation
The participant’s program is continuously evaluated and modified. Periodic progress reports and frequent communications keep your doctor up to date on your progress.
