Brooksville Regional Hospital’s Cardiac Care Program Achieves New Status as Accredited Chest Pain Center
Brooksville Regional Hospital has received Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. The hospital undertook a rigorous evaluation of heart care processes in order to integrate the industry’s best practices and newest paradigms into its cardiac care services.
Brooksville Regional’s state-of-the-art heart care team works seamlessly with area emergency medical services to ensure that patients get the treatment they need during the critical early stages of a heart attack. “This accreditation further demonstrates our dedication to excellence and quality care,” said Kathy Burke, CEO of Brooksville Regional Hospital. “This is truly a momentous event for not only our hospital, but for the community as well. It is a testament to the quality of care we provide to our local community, and is made possible because of the work and commitment of a multi disciplinary team that includes employees, physicians and Hernando County EMS.”
As an Accredited Chest Pain Center, Brooksville Regional Hospital ensures that patients who come to the hospital with chest pain or discomfort are given the immediate treatment necessary to avoid as much heart damage as possible. Protocol-based procedures developed by leading experts in cardiac care to reduce time to treatment in the critical early stages of a heart attack are part of Brooksville Regional Hospital’s overall cardiac care service.
“People tend to wait when they think they might be having a heart attack, and that’s a mistake,” said Kathy Burke, CEO. “The average person arrives in the Emergency Department more than two hours after the onset of symptoms, but what they don’t realize is that the sooner a heart attaché is treated, the less damage to the heart and the better the outcome.”
