Brooksville Regional Hospital's Associate Administrator Promoted To Brigadier General

Brooksville Regional Hospital Administrator Appointed Brigadier General

The Secretary of Defense announced that President Obama has nominated the Associate Administrator of Brooksville Regional Hospital, Marine Corps Reserve Col. Scott Hartsell, to be appointed to the rank of Brigadier General.  Hartsell’s current Reserve position is serving as Chief of Staff, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Individual Mobilization Augmentee Detachment in Camp Lejeune, N.C.

“I was both astounded and humbled when I got the call from the Commandant of the Marine Corps personally letting me know that I had been selected for Brigadier General,” said Hartsell.

Only 1% of the Reserve Marine Colonels who are eligible for promotion get selected for Brigadier General. Officers in our military are nominated by the President and then approved by the Senate.  As high ranking commissioned officers, Brigadier Generals are expected to maintain a very high standard of personal and professional behavior, since their actions reflect directly upon their head of state and nation.

Hartsell, who returned two months ago from a year long tour in Afghanistan, has been a Marine for 29 Years; 13 Active and 16 Reserve. He was chosen based on his recent Strategic/Operational experience gained during tours in Iraq (2004) & Afghanistan (2009-10), his Leadership position in the Healthcare Industry, and his community involvement. “I'm sincerely humbled that our Nation has selected me to serve in this critical, increased responsibility role”, Hartsell said. “I could not have asked for a more supportive employer than Brooksville Regional Hospital and our parent Company, Health Management Associates. I look forward to serving both and nation and our local community for years to come”.

“It has been our honor to support Scott as he supports our country”, said Kathy Burke, Vice President of Hernando Healthcare, Inc. which incorporates both Brooksville and Spring Hill Regional Hospitals and Hernando Endoscopy and Surgery Center. “He and his family were in our thoughts and prayers while he was in Afghanistan, and we are thrilled to have him back home. He is an asset to our country, our community and Brooksville Regional Hospital”.
